Screw It Yourself: Desktop Copy Holder

If you’re anything like me, over time you’ve tried several different mechanisms to hold copy for you while you type. You’ve probably also felt a little nauseous while dropping 10 bucks on such a contraption. Here’s a simple (albeit slightly ugly) solution that will keep your copy readable and that dough in your pocket.

This is ridiculously simple (so simple, in fact, that I haven’t bothered explaining my process), but it works great for me and people seem to get a kick out of it.

What you’ll need:

  • A wire coat hanger
  • A pair of pliers
  • A bottle opener

Step 1

Using the pliers, coax the coat hanger into the shape shown in the photos below.

Step 1 - Make This

Step 2

Using the bottle opener, crack open a cold beverage, kick back, and marvel at your self-sufficiency. Take that, Staples!

If you’re feeling really sassy, give the Face First Creative book holder a try. Important: This project requires two coat hangers—and probably an extra beer as well.
